Hey guys.
I just thought I should share my amazing experience at camp this week.
Alright, so as some of you may know, I've always kind of believed in God. Mostly because my parents did. I never really asked myself if I believed. Well, at camp, we learned a lot about God, and I wasn't necessarily focusing on Him. I was so self-centered and only cared about me. Eventually, after many many different lessons, I ended up going to a nightly church group devotion. We sat around the camp fire, sang, talked, and etc. Then our pastor told us we needed to share some personal secrets, because it would bring us closer together and help eliminate stress. Well, I learned a lot of horrible things my friends had done in the past, but they're still good people. After lots of tears and comforting, we sang a song around the fire, hand-in-hand. It not only brought us closer together, but set us up for the best change of our life.
Now, if you don't believe in God, it's fine. You'll either get there eventually or not at all. But let me just tell you this: If you decide to be with God, I GUARANTEE it's the best choice you'll ever make.
We had some proof of God's existence right before our very eyes at camp.
If you do or don't want to believe me, okay. I don't care. What happened actually happened, and you can't change facts. Call it what you want, but here's the truth..
"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth." - Genesis 9:13 NIV
That verse is what my pastor read to us. Now, even in the summer, the location of my camp often has thunder/lightning storms along with gallons of rain. We were sitting at our devotion underneath a platform outside. It was cold and dark out, and the sky was black and cloudy.
So our pastor read the verse, and literally RIGHT AFTER they finished, a person screamed "Guys look at the sky"
The clouds were parted, and the rain had stopped. In the sky directly above our meeting spot was a perfect rainbow. That's the truth. Call it what you want. Believe me or don't. I don't care.
I personally think it's God.
I became a Christian that day. A real, actual Christian. Not a fake Christian. Not a "just-because-my-whole-family-is" Christian.
At our camp we have this ceremony thing, like a baptizing without water. We write our stresses, problems, and sins on this rock. Sometimes we write the names of certain people. Then we throw the rock into the lake, and it symbolizes us tossing away our problems. It symbolizes living a free, new, pure life away from sins.
On the rock, I wrote down:
Lying
I have a serious issue with lying. I know it won't change if I don't make an effort. I know it won't change if I don't trust in God.
"But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." - James 3:8
We can't help but lying sometimes. Nobody on this planet has gone their whole life without telling a lie. In fact, 90% of people have lied often to others.
It's completely impossible to be perfect. It's completely impossible to be sin-free. It's completely impossible to go a long time without telling a little lie here and there. But that doesn't make it okay.
It's also completely impossible to live fully without the Lord God.
Actually...
It's impossible to live at all without him.
After I threw my sin into the lake, the skies started clearing. It was the next morning, but the sky was still partially cloudy. After the sky became a beautiful blue and the sun shined brightly, I noticed a cloud. It looked insanely like a cross. So much like a cross that I had to stop and stare in awe for a moment.
That's a fact. Can't change it.
I personally believe it's God.
Believe what you want.
"White lies and small omissions are still lies - we should always
remember that. The option to lie should not be a in a Christian's life;
we should always think of the truth first. We are not made perfect and
we are tainted by original Sin. But no matter how imperfect we are, we
should always strive to be good people - and this means not lying." -http://www.godvine.com/bible/category/lying
So do you believe in God?
If so, congratulations. You've made an awesome choice that will save you always.
If you'd like me to pray for you please comment your problem below.
I don't care what religion you are. I don't even care if you're faithful.
It's okay to have doubts about God.
"Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the
disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have
seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his
hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his
side, I will not believe it." A week later his disciples were in the
house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked,
Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he
said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand
and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to
him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen
me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have
believed." - John 20:24-29
Thanks for at least reading this.
I hope you think.

I feel lonely when people talk of religion, since I feel like I'm the only atheist here. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against religion :)
