International Museum Day

Why hello there Jammers, and welcome to another post here on the AJSB!
---

Today is a special day for people who love and support museums. That's right..
it's International Museum Day!

To celebrate today in real life, you can donate to a museum or volunteer to help at one! Or if you aren't able to, you can always just make a visit. c;
Sometimes you can learn more about your local museum without even visiting. Simply visit their webpage if they have one and take a look.
In fact, I'm looking at a webpage for a museum that's nearby to me right now! It's an animal/wildlife museum for many species. Sometimes they take in injured animals such as bald eagles and various rodents.

My last visit to that museum was quite a while ago, but I remember that I got to hold a snake and I was only inches away from a beautiful bald eagle. It was huge and had a stunningly long wingspan of 8 feet!

But wildlife museums are not the only museums you can visit, and your local museum doesn't have to be home to King Tut's tomb or the Mona Lisa to be special. Some museums are about community and working together to keep everyone connected. Another museum that's close to me is an art museum, and all of the art was submitted by local artists!
It's impressive and interesting to know that the ordinary people you see at the grocery store or the gas station can do such incredible things.

The background of International Museum Day is still a mystery to me. I haven't done research on it or anything, so I all I know is that it was established in 1977 by the International Council of Museums.

The goal of this day is to make everyone more aware of how great museums are..
and how we should appreciate them more.

Let's get to the point of this post. It is an ANIMAL JAM blog, after all.
I decided to visit the Conservation Museum in Jamaa to show my appreciation for places like those (even if it's only virtual).

Here's what I learned:

Imagine a giant gust of wind traveling towards you at 318 mph!
That seems so scary!
This lightning fact was pretty interesting to me. We recently had a lightning storm at my school, and a bolt hit the roof of my classroom! The hands on our clock were spinning wildly and one of the lights went out. Thank goodness nobody was hurt!

Imagine setting things on fire as you walked!
I read plenty of other facts, but I won't spoil any more. If you want to read them then check out the Conservation Museum in Appondale!

To close off my visit, I donated 50 gems towards saving animals. The coolest thing about Animal Jam is that they are run by National Geographic. Our gems may actually count towards the protection of endangered species!

And don't forget...
Museums aren't just about facts! There are usually lots of fun activities to entertain you.
Even in Jamaa, you can watch cute animated films in Appondale.

That's all!

I'm glad I visited the Conservation Museum and made more of an effort to learn about my local museums in real life.
Maybe I'll do it again someday... and not just on May 18!

This is 2fangwolf, signing off.
