You are so beautiful.
Yes, you! I want you to stand in the mirror today and say, "I love you. You are so beautiful." Every day, you should say this outloud in the mirror, especially when you wake up. Let me rephrase that: especially when you wake up with a bird's nest for hair and dried up drool on your chin.
It seems to be so taboo to love yourself. You only get 1 body, so why not love every inch of it? That scar on your elbow from falling off your bike as a child, it's beautiful. The acne scars that refuse to fade, no matter how many treatments you've tried. You might have a double chin, and it's even more pronounced when you're laughing. If your body is freckled like a galaxy because you don't tan; you freckle. If your ears stick out, and as a child you were teased of being Dumbo. If you're not happy with your weight, height, or overall appearance. If you have stretch marks around your breasts, thighs, stomach - all over.
You're stunning.
I can't strain this enough.
The scars on your body, the acne scars, the freckles, the uneven skin - these are all evidence that you've lived. If you didn't have the scars on your elbow, evidently you wouldn't have had nearly as much fun as a child. Maybe you got back on that bike, maybe you didn't out of fear of falling again. But you can say you had the courage to get on that bike in the first place.
Maybe you have dark circles under your eyes. I know many people refer to them as "hell pits". Trust me, I have extremely dark circles under my eyes. I used to hate them, used to cover them, but now I've embraced them, because no matter how much sleep I get, they will always be there. And I just don't care if people think I look overly tired. It's me. It's hereditary, not much I can do about it. Although, I must admit they are darkened even more by the late nights I spend reading and painting. I don't regret those late nights; I embrace them. Ultimately, I love my dark circles. And you can learn to do that too.
I don't think you should change your appearance to please other people. First and foremost, do it to please yourself. But always remember, you are so gorgeous. I think you're beautiful, and you are.
I reiterate:
Every morning, look in the mirror, and tell yourself you're beautiful. If you don't mean it at first, still do it, and I hope that one day you'll know it.
And trust me, if you're worried about what other people think of you, they're too worried about themselves anyway to be thinking about what you look like.
