The AJSB News Crew

A History of the AJSB News Crew

Quietly I walked through the empty hallways. Dust was spread across the floor like butter on toast; and everywhere I looked was purely isolated and silent. “When will I see her…?” I muttered to myself.
There she was. As if she had read my mind and answered the call of worry, she was standing there by the door; a small leather notebook clutched in her jaw tightly.
“I have arrived.”
I nodded for her to come in, and she did so with great enthusiasm. She plopped herself down onto my desk chair and spun around in it wildly. She had such a cheery personality – it was impossible to become angry at her. Even if she was about to break my chair! I smiled at her but she only looked at me expectantly. “Well?” she said slowly.
“Oh yes,” I had spoken, remembering why I summoned her to my office; “are you ready to hear your assignment?”
She grinned and followed me through several rooms until we reached a tall and dusty ladder. “Climb it.”
She nodded and pounced onto the ladder. After a minute or so she was at the top; I was following close behind her.
We entered the reporting room – a place dedicated to writing and broadcasting news around Jamaa. The only thing the room ever contained was a map, a microphone, and some notes that had been pinned to the smooth, dark-colored wall. She looked around and sighed contently, and I couldn’t help but do the same. It was a lovely sight. Whenever you entered that room you’d feel so accomplished; so worthy of a title. It made you feel important!
The microphone stood untouched and dusty in a small corner. She began to drag it into the center of the room, directly in front of the map. “Better?” she mumbled with the microphone still between her teeth.
“Hmm,” I replied; “a little to the left.” I gestured with my paw.
After a long, tedious hour, we had finally gotten the production equipment set up and ready to use. “Casandra,” I spoke to the purple-colored arctic wolf standing before me; “test it out.”
She didn’t hesitate to do so. That’s what I love about Casandra189, she never back-talks to you. She’s always positive and obedient, and she gets the job done as soon as possible! I smiled at her as she cleared her throat. “Read your lines, Casandra.”
She nodded.
“Gooooooooood Morning Jamaa! It’s time for your daily news report! I’m your host, Casandra189! I’m reporting live from 2fan—“
I cut her off and slapped my forehead in frustration. “Casandra.. um.. you aren’t supposed to say you’re reporting from my basement.”
“Right.” she responded, clearly embarrassed.
“It’s okay, just don’t do that when we’re actually on air!”
She laughed. “I’m such an idiot!”
Weeks went by, and every day Casandra189 would bring her notebook to my den; it was always full of enriching and well-written articles based on Jamaa’s current happenings.
All of her assignments were done ahead of time. She wasn’t one for procrastinating. Things were going perfect.
But as the blog became more popular, I knew I was going to need more help. How would I tell this to Casandra? Well, I had to tell her sometime, I knew this. “I’ll tell her next month,” I told myself; “Yeah. What could possibly go wrong in a month? Casandra will have it all under control, I’m sure of it! She’s all the help I need and will ever need.”
Little did I know that my trust in Casandra would fail me. Not because of Casandra, but because of myself.

A few weeks went by. The blog wasn’t at all exciting, nobody really cared much for it, and our production videos were what you would call “monotonous”. It was about time I faced the facts. I knew the blog would get me nowhere. It only had a few views; sadly those few views belonged to either Casandra or myself! That means nobody cared about it. Nobody. Not even one person other than us.
As for the videos.. well.. they were trash. Somehow we managed to destroy the well-written articles and turn them into 2 minute segments of uninformative chatter.
Life went by though, and I did enjoy Casandra189’s company very much. She kept me from being lonely. Sometimes my best friends isabellamozarella and Sparkle10156 visited me. But that was all.
